 About Me

Hello! I’m a licensed landscape architect and horticultural consultant based in Berkeley, California. I have 15+ years of experience working in design, gardening, and construction. My mission is to create outdoor spaces that are usable, water-efficient, climate appropriate, and peaceful places of refuge where joy and inspiration can be found.

Services Overview

Conceptual Design / 2D Drafting

The concept design stage is when I put pen to paper to develop the initial ideas for the project.

Whether your outdoor space is big or small, the main objective of this stage is to develop documents that provide the client with an understanding of the proposed spatial organization, functions, constraints, opportunities, and overall aesthetic. These documents often including plans, site analysis, precedent project images, and material palettes (planting and hardscape). Design services may vary depending on your project needs.

During concept development, documents can be supplied when required by local government agencies for planning approval.

3D Modeling

Sometimes spaces can be difficult to visualize when looking at a two-dimensional plan. 3d modeling can help give owners and other stakeholders a better understanding of how the space may look and feel. Through computer modeling, β€œsketchy” concept perspectives can be creating as well as very realistic rendered views. This type of service can be very useful when trying to solve complex hardscape or topographical elements that are challenging to understand in plan view. Often, 3d perspective images can really help sell a project.

Construction Details

During this phase of a project, documents such as detailed plan views, sections, schedules, hardscape details, quantities and specifications may be provided for landscape construction companies to be able to price and build the project. Sometimes such details will be required for planning or building department permits as well.

This stage often requires coordination with other consultants to reduce the possibility for construction issues and also to allow for resolution of overlapping design elements (architecture, landscape, lighting, engineering, etc.)

Horticultural Consulting

As an experience gardener with a background in horticulture, I also work directly with cut flowers, herbs, shrubs, trees, fruits, vegetables, and soil health. Not only am I knowledgeable about which plants will thrive in a certain area, how much water and light they require, and what type of soil they need, but I also understand how to design with them to really make a garden shine.
